Challenge

A study started in a document, moved to a spreadsheet for fieldwork, got decided in chat and approved by email. Asking where one stood took two people, and their answers did not always agree. None of it was broken. All of it was slow.

Approach

We followed one study from brief to final report and wrote down every handover. That map became a clickable prototype. The team argued about what was missing before anything was built, and what they settled on is the system they use now.

Outcome

Where a study stands is a screen instead of a question. Twelve studies now run in the same shape. A new researcher learns one process rather than four tools.
